Infrastructure & Codebase Modernization
An approximately $1.3M modernization aligned application, database, server, infrastructure, and release work across a global team.
Situation
A major enterprise application required coordinated upgrades across its codebase and the web, application, database, and supporting infrastructure layers.
Challenge
Manage tightly coupled upgrades, evolving codebases, distributed contributors, ongoing limited feature delivery, and a fixed June delivery target.
Michael’s role
Served as Scrum Master, project/delivery lead, and primary technical decision-maker, coordinating at least 10 contributors across Europe, North America, and India.
Approach
- Built an integrated plan across servers, framework versions, database layers, infrastructure, and release work.
- Used the reusable core framework as a proving ground for the upgrade path.
- Managed dependencies, sprint execution, codebase merges, risk, and cross-regional coordination.
- Aligned technical decisions, stakeholder communication, release planning, and production readiness.
Outcome
The program met its targeted June delivery milestone and was completed within its approximately $1.3 million budget.
