About

A career spent making complicated systems more workable

Michael Zinda is a software engineering, application-development, and enterprise-architecture leader with more than 22 years of technology experience and more than 18 years in IT consulting.

His career has grown from developing and supporting business applications into architecture, modernization, engineering delivery, application operations, cloud and DevOps responsibility, and leadership across complex enterprise environments. The common thread is translation: turning business needs, technical constraints, and competing priorities into architecture and delivery plans that teams can execute.

Today, Michael leads architecture and delivery across a portfolio of five business-critical enterprise applications for a long-term global pharmaceutical client. He provides day-to-day leadership for a matrixed technical team of approximately 10–12 contributors across North America, Europe, India, and China, aligning priorities, dependencies, technical decisions, release commitments, and production needs.

His leadership experience also includes direct-report and performance-review responsibility, mentoring and onboarding, technical coaching, difficult accountability conversations, intern leadership, candidate screening, recruiting support, and coordination of subcontractors and distributed delivery teams.

Michael remains technically engaged because effective leadership benefits from understanding how systems actually behave. He uses that depth to evaluate tradeoffs, guide architecture, improve engineering practices, remove blockers, and help teams move from ambiguity through implementation and into dependable production operation.

He also applies AI-assisted software-delivery practices to requirements clarification, architecture analysis, implementation planning, development, testing, code review, documentation, modernization, and production-support investigation. AI supports the work; technical judgment, human review, security boundaries, testing, and validation remain essential.

Outside his consulting work, Michael is the Founder of Back Nine Technologies LLC, where he is developing Back9Live, an early-stage live golf scoring and event-operations product. The working prototype reflects his approach to product definition, architecture, user workflows, data modeling, API design, security, testing, and implementation planning.
